SUMMARY:Opening General Session: The Next 100 Starts Now
DESCRIPTION:Kick off this year's conference with a unique opening session that celebrates ACTE's 100th anniversary while looking ahead to what's next. For a century\, ACTE has brought together CTE leaders committed to advancing opportunities for learners\, strengthening communities and preparing the workforce of tomorrow. As we celebrate that legacy\, you'll hear from leaders in the field doing the work you're doing every day. Through their experiences\, we'll reflect on how innovation\, partnership and leadership have shaped CTE's past—and explore how adaptability and bold thinking will define its future.\nThis inspiring opening session features three dynamic segments designed to spark ideas\, broaden perspectives and prepare you for the opportunities ahead:\n• Hear the founder of a groundbreaking entrepreneurial school share how human-centered design and innovation are transforming teaching and learning in CTE\, with practical ideas you can bring back to your own programs.\n• Get a timely update from a leading voice in federal CTE policy\, with a clear\, accessible overview of what's happening in Washington and what it means for administrators today and in the year ahead.\n• Join us for a fireside chat with ACTE's Administrator of the Year as she discusses her programs\, lessons learned\, leadership experiences and strategies for strengthening the perception and impact of CTE for students\, educators and communities.\nFor 100 years\, CTE has adapted to meet the changing needs of students\, employers and communities. The next chapter will depend on leaders who continue that tradition—not by preserving the status quo\, but by shaping what's next. We hope you'll leave energized\, inspired and ready to make the most of the conference experience.

SUMMARY:An EPIC Focus: Building a High Quality Instructional Playbook
DESCRIPTION:What if every instructor\, coach\, and administrator could walk into any classroom and instantly name three indicators of high-quality instruction—without a rubric? This session tackles the challenge of inconsistent feedback\, PD overload\, and instructors (veteran and new) uncertainty of what good instruction looks like in a CTE facility. &nbsp\;At EPIC Campus\,&nbsp\;we place a high value on hiring instructors straight from industry&nbsp\;and this session explores how administrators and coaches can create a shared instructional playbook to ensure high-quality learning in&nbsp\;every classroom. Grounded in John Hattie’s&nbsp\;Visible Learning\, The New Teacher Project’s Opportunity Myth and Opportunity Makers\, EPIC’s Instructional Look-Fors and Colorado Department of Education’s High-Quality Instructional Routines\, participants will examine what&nbsp\;effective instruction&nbsp\;looks like\,&nbsp\;why consistency and coherence matter\, and&nbsp\;how to support instructional growth&nbsp\;across diverse programs and instructors.\nParticipants will engage with research from TNTP and John Hattie on teacher clarity and participate in interactive activities to analyze how to use this tool. Attendees will leave with practical tools to develop or refine an instructional framework that strengthens teaching practices\, supports new and veteran educators\, and improves student outcomes.

SUMMARY:Beyond Compliance: Strategic Use of Perkins and CLNA
DESCRIPTION:Perkins and the Comprehensive Local Needs Assessment (CLNA) are often viewed as compliance requirements rather than strategic planning tools. This session will explore how secondary and postsecondary CTE leaders can move beyond basic compliance and use Perkins intentionally to strengthen programs\, align with workforce needs\, and drive continuous improvement.\nParticipants will examine practical strategies for using CLNA findings to guide curriculum decisions\, equipment purchases\, advisory council engagement\, and program expansion. The session will highlight how to align labor market data\, stakeholder input\, and student performance outcomes to support funding priorities and long-term planning. Real-world examples from a community college CTE perspective will demonstrate how Perkins can serve as a framework for innovation rather than paperwork.\nAttendees will leave with clear\, actionable steps to transform CLNA data into meaningful program improvement strategies.

SUMMARY:Building the Teacher Pipeline... Industry Expert to Master Teacher
DESCRIPTION:Across Pennsylvania and the nation\, schools face a growing shortage of qualified Career and Technical Education (CTE) teachers. Industry professionals possess valuable technical expertise\, yet traditional certification pathways often create barriers that discourage entry into teaching. As a result\, districts struggle to fill critical positions\, limiting student access to high-quality\, career-connected learning opportunities.\nTo address this workforce challenge\, innovative solutions are needed to build a sustainable pipeline of certified CTE educators while maintaining rigorous instructional quality.\n\n\nThe Chester County Intermediate Unit (CCIU) has developed an innovative teacher certification pathway designed to strengthen the CTE educator pipeline. This pathway enables participants to earn a Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) Intern Certificate and ultimately an Instructional I Certificate while actively employed in a teaching position.\nThe program is designed as a competency-based\, job-embedded certification model that allows participants to apply learning directly in their classrooms while receiving structured support.

SUMMARY:Designing Opportunity (Because Placements Aren’t Enough)
DESCRIPTION:Work-based learning has expanded rapidly — but growth alone doesn’t equal impact. In too many systems\, success is measured by placements\, hours logged\, or participation counts while the real question goes unanswered: Are we actually designing opportunity\, or just arranging experiences?\n\n\nThis session challenges administrators to rethink WBL as an ecosystem\, not a collection of individual placements. Participants will explore how intentional design\, aligned partnerships\, and system-level thinking transform WBL from activity-driven programs into strategic drivers of student growth\, talent development\, and community connection.\n\n\nPlacements are easy to count. Opportunity must be designed.

SUMMARY:From Words on the Walls to Behavior in the Halls
DESCRIPTION:Many CTE organizations proudly display their values — but far fewer have defined what those values look like in daily practice. When expectations remain undefined\, leadership lacks consistency and culture relies more on individual interpretation than shared standards.\n\n\nThis session explores a practical approach to translating organizational values into observable behaviors that clarify expectations for staff and leaders. Using a real-world example from a CTE institution’s Standards of Excellence initiative\, participants will examine how defining behavior-based standards strengthens onboarding\, coaching conversations and performance alignment.\n\n\nThrough guided reflection and a structured behavior-mapping activity\, attendees will draft one behavior-based standard and identify a practical first step for implementation in their own setting.\n\n\nParticipants will receive a Behavior Mapping Worksheet and a simple framework to continue the work beyond the session.

SUMMARY:Getting Creative with In-District Dual Enrollment Online CTE Delivery
DESCRIPTION:Dual enrollment is expanding rapidly\, yet access remains uneven—particularly for students from low-income backgrounds\, students of color\, and those historically excluded from accelerated coursework. Research from the Community College Research Center and Jobs for the Future shows these gaps are often driven by program design and delivery\, not student ability.\n\n\nThis interactive roundtable explores how districts can get more creative with in-district online and hybrid delivery models to expand access to high-quality CTE dual enrollment without replacing existing programs. Participants will examine evidence-based design principles\, scheduling approaches\, and support structures that help students succeed in flexible learning environments. Using real district examples\, attendees will engage in guided discussion and planning activities to evaluate their own delivery models and identify practical\, equity-centered improvements they can implement in their schools or systems.

SUMMARY:The Human Advantage: Emotional Intelligence and AI-Assessed Durable Skill Development
DESCRIPTION:As technology accelerates\, workplaces are demanding more than technical expertise\, they require human skills that machines cannot replace. Emotional Intelligence (EI) has become a defining factor in adaptability\, leadership\, collaboration\, and long-term workforce success. Yet\, these skills have often been undervalued because they are difficult to measure and teach with precision.\nThis session introduces a new approach to strengthening and measuring these critical human capabilities through AI-powered Durable Skills Assessment. Participants will explore how emotional intelligence\, adaptability\, communication\, and self-awareness can be both developed and measured using intelligent tools that provide actionable insights. This session bridges the gap between human-centered skill development and cutting-edge assessment technology to better prepare individuals for the future of work.

SUMMARY:Connecting CBE with CTE: A Model for School Innovation and Workforce Readiness
DESCRIPTION:The constantly evolving demands of a global\, 21st-century workforce require educational systems to shift from 19th century industrialized\, time-based models of schooling to systems focused on mastery\, adaptability\, and measurable skill attainment. Two approaches that have gained national attention for addressing these needs are Competency-Based Education (CBE) and Career and Technical Education (CTE).&nbsp\;\n\n\nCTECS has joined forces with Marzano Resources over the past 3 years to align CBE with CTE and provide a coherent model for updating educational systems and strengthening pathways from school to career. &nbsp\; The results have been dramatic.\n\n\nThis session will detail how admin teams in a 17-school state-level district has have collaborated to shift the existing system in comprehensive high schools\, and used CTE teachers to model what CBE looks like in the real world\, thereby evolving the mindsets of academic teachers throughout the state.

SUMMARY:CTE Is Shifting. Are You Leading or Watching?
DESCRIPTION:Career and Technical Education is entering a new era — but not every system is moving with it. As expectations around student engagement\, meaningful career planning\, and long-term student preparation evolve\, leadership decisions are increasingly determining which programs move forward and which remain stuck in outdated models.\n\n\nThis session challenges leaders to rethink a long-standing assumption: that CTE exists primarily for workforce development. Incremental fixes and short-term workforce solutions may act like bandages\, but lasting impact requires something deeper. Participants will explore how shifting toward an economic development lens — one that anticipates future needs\, builds community vitality\, and intentionally develops talent — changes how CTE prepares students and defines success.\n\n\nInspired by the ideas behind CTE Reimagined\, this conversation moves beyond adding new programs or initiatives. Instead\, it focuses on leadership choices\, system design\, and the strategic shifts needed to move from reactive efforts to sustainable\, future-focused outcomes.

SUMMARY:Leadership as the Foundation: Developing Organizational Capacity to implement a new Strategic Plan
DESCRIPTION:Recognizing that meaningful change begins with strong leadership\, our organization made a deliberate decision: the first action step in implementing the transformation outlined in our strategic plan was to develop our leaders first. Research consistently demonstrates that organizations investing in leadership development experience higher levels of employee engagement\, stronger cultures of accountability\, improved retention\, and significantly greater success in achieving strategic goals. With this evidence in mind\, we prioritized leadership development as the foundation for long-term organizational success and sustainable change. This training series was intentionally designed to build the leadership capacity and set foundational expectations required to drive strategic change and to ensure alignment between individual leadership growth and organizational priorities. Administrators\, Directors\, and Leaders are the audience for this session. Real world case studies will be used for partner discussion. Additionally\, sample tools and instruments will be used for audience members to practice and begin seeing how these tools could be used in their daily leadership behaviors.\n&nbsp\;\nLed by internal peer facilitators and aligned to our organization’s administrator evaluation system\, the program provided a cohesive and relevant learning experience for leaders across the organization. Through structured modules—including Leadership Styles\, Strategic Thinking\, Systems Thinking\, Communication\, Change Leadership\, and Performance Management—participants engaged in deep self-reflection\, skill development\, and application of new learning to real workplace challenges.\n\n\nA central outcome of the series was the development of individualized leadership learning plans tailored to each participant’s strengths\, growth areas\, and future leadership aspirations. By equipping leaders with the tools\, mindset\, and behaviors essential for effective leadership expectations\, the training established a common foundation for sustained organizational change and successful strategic plan implementation. Participants will engage in small group discussion and reflection on developing leadership capacity through identifying and prioritizing leadership levers that align with program or organizational goals. Handouts and slide deck will be provided.&nbsp\;\n&nbsp\;\n&nbsp\;
