Chris Bailey serves as the Director of State and District Partnerships and Teaching To Lead for the Southern Regional Education Board (SREB). He joined SREB in 2022 as an instructional coach with Teaching To Lead, where he quickly became a key leader in designing and scaling support systems for new and developing educators.Chris began his career as an agricultural education teacher and has since served in a wide range of instructional and administrative roles, including CTE teacher, career development coordinator, assistant principal, principal, and CTE director across four North Carolina school districts. His professional experience spans the full educator pipeline—from classroom instruction to district- and state-level leadership—giving him a unique perspective on teacher development and retention.Throughout his career, Chris has held numerous leadership roles with North Carolina ACTE, NC ACTE Administrative Division, and the National Council of Local Administrators for Career & Technical Education (NCLA). He was recognized as the North Carolina CTE Administrator of the Year in 2019 and the ACTE Region II CTE Administrator of the Year in 2020.In his current role, Chris works closely with state education agencies, school districts, and educator preparation partners nationwide to design and implement new teacher induction, onboarding, mentoring, and alternative certification programs, with a strong emphasis on supporting CTE teachers entering the profession from industry. Through Teaching to Lead, he focuses on building instructional leadership capacity, strengthening coaching systems, and helping districts create sustainable pathways that support new teachers from day one through long-term career growth.Chris holds a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Education from North Carolina State University and a Master of School Administration from East Carolina University.
