About me
Dr. Jennifer Murray is a respected educational leader with more than 27 years of experience in public education, serving in roles that span classroom teacher to superintendent. She currently serves as the Assistant Executive Director for the Chester County Intermediate Unit, where she oversees three Career and Technical Education (CTE) campuses, Brandywine Virtual Academy, Student Services, and Learning and Leadership Solutions. In this role, she leads innovative programming, supports workforce development initiatives, and advances high-quality professional learning and student services across the region.
Prior to her current position, Dr. Murray served as Superintendent of the Reading School District, the fourth largest district in Pennsylvania, where she led 18,000 students and 2,400 staff and managed a $468 million budget. Her leadership focused on academic excellence, safe and supportive schools, financial stewardship, and strong community partnerships. She previously served as Assistant Superintendent, where she supervised all Teaching and Learning departments, launched the Reading Virtual Academy, and developed comprehensive systems to ensure consistency and equity across schools.
A frequent presenter at state and national conferences, Dr. Murray has contributed to conversations on career readiness, educator workforce development, and school-university partnerships. Her leadership has been recognized with numerous honors, including the PASA Award for Instructional Leadership and the United Way Impact Award.
Dr. Murray holds a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Immaculata University, a Master of Science in Educational Administration from Gwynedd Mercy College, and a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from West Chester University. She remains actively engaged in professional and community organizations dedicated to advancing public education.
