About me
Educator of 20 years in the Essex County Schools of Technology school district in Newark, NJ. I began my teaching career at our Newark Tech Campus in 2005 as a Social Studies teacher for bilingual students. Over my tenure as a classroom teacher I have taught various history courses, AP courses and dual credit courses. In 2014, our district introduced a robust dual credit pre-college program in partnership with Essex County College. I had the opportunity to join a team of teachers that would expand the district's pre-college program known as TEAL into an Associates Degree program which has successfully graduated over 100 students with a degree in liberal arts. My journey into school leadership began in 2020 and has led to a Master's Degree in School Administration. I was appointed Department Chair for Social Studies in 2022 which opened the door to a higher promotion within the CTE Department.. In 2024, I became the Supervisor of Career, College and Community Connections overseeing a 1.4 million dollar federal grant program known as the Perkins Innovation and Modernization Grant. This opened my eyes to the world of CTE and provided me a unique opportunity to work with community partners and Rutgers Newark to mentor and prepare students for college and the workforce through college and career readiness workshops, dual credits, industry valued credentials and work-based learning summer opportunities. As a newly appointed Supervisor of CTE, there are experiences that I can share to assist others entering this side of education to be better prepared to led both teacher and students successfully.
