Sherri Thompson is a results-oriented Human Resources leader with more than 20 years of progressive experience spanning employee relations, HRIS, compensation and benefits, workforce development, and organizational transformation. She is recognized for her strong analytical capability, clear communication style, and ability to translate business strategy into effective people solutions that enhance organizational performance, student outcomes, and employee engagement.In her current role, she manages the Good Life Solution Program, partnering with local and regional businesses to enroll employers in the program and facilitate the hiring of students upon graduation. She leads and develops career specialists who work collaboratively with educators to prepare students for workforce entry, ensuring résumés are polished, career readiness skills are strengthened, and students are positioned for successful employment.Sherri’s expertise includes mergers and acquisitions, workforce planning, executive compensation, employment law, change management, and large-scale recruiting initiatives. She has successfully led organizational restructures, built sustainable talent pipelines, secured workforce development funding, and cultivated partnerships with educational institutions, economic development agencies, and veteran hiring initiatives to increase student job placements through targeted training programs and employer-aligned workforce strategies.Sherri is deeply committed to leadership, community engagement, and workforce development. She has led and supported STEM, career pathways, diversity, and employer engagement initiatives; served in ambassador and team lead roles; and actively participated in regional talent pipeline cohorts. A cum laude graduate of Christopher Newport University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, she has been recognized with multiple awards for excellence, customer service, and leadership impact.
